The Drupal Web Developer Apprenticeship is a level 4 qualification and is accredited and funded by The Tech Partnership.

Over the past year or so I have been working with experienced Drupal developers to create a formal, nationally recognised, and funded* qualification specifically for Drupal Apprenticeships. The aim of the apprenticeship is to give young people a broad range of skills to be able to enter the job market as a junior developer.

Our Drupal Apprenticeship programme is one year long, starting with a two week Drupal boot camp. The apprentice will learn on the job, attend formal classroom training two days per month and complete assignments to develop their skills.

We have a proven track record. Over the past two years we have recruited 11 young people and placed them in an apprenticeship position. Of the 7 apprentices that have now completed the year, 3 have been taken on as a permanent member of staff, 2 have found junior developer jobs in other companies, 1 is doing contract work and 1 is currently interviewing for a permanent position.

We are extremely proud of this achievement; with the support of this apprenticeship programme and the Drupal community these school/college leavers have a great career and future ahead.

We need to continue:

For the benefit of growing the Drupal project with bright, new talent.

The opportunity for young people to get started in a great career.

For a cost effective way to expand your Drupal team.

We need companies to take on an apprentice. We have the experience to help companies in the process of hiring an apprentice and an on-going support system and network.
